Andrew Walker is the founding principal of Achievement First Iluminar Mayoral Academy Middle School. To prepare for this role, he participated in a rigorous leadership training through the National Principal Academy Fellowship and Achievement First’s principal-in-residence program at AF Endeavor Middle School in Brooklyn. Prior to working as a principal-in-residence, he served as the academic dean of humanities and a sixth grade reading and writing teacher, also at AF Endeavor Middle School. He began his teaching career at MATCH Middle School in Boston, Massachusetts. He earned his bachelor’s degree in American studies at Wesleyan University. Mr. Walker is thrilled to work with Iluminar families and the community to ensure that all children develop the academic skills, independence, and socio-emotional strength that will enable to them be successful in college and beyond.
