Michael Hendricks is the founding principal of AF Apollo Middle. He joined AF Apollo Middle after serving as a Principal-In-Residence and Dean of Students at AF Endeavor Middle. Prior to AF, Mr. Hendricks was the Founding Assistant Principal and Director of School Culture for East Harlem Scholars Academy. As a classroom teacher, Mr. Hendricks taught high school Social Studies and Spanish at Thurgood Marshall Academy in Washington D.C. Mr. Hendricks earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, a master's in teaching from American University, and a master's in school leadership from Columbia University’s Teachers College. Mr. Hendricks is proud of his team’s commitment to hard work and growth mindset. This past year, scholars had a 17 point increase in math achievement and a 21 point increase in ELA achievement on the New York State Test.
