Morgan Carter is the founding principal of Achievement First Providence Mayoral Academy Elementary. To prepare for this role, she participated in rigorous leadership training through Achievement First’s Principal-in-Residence program and KIPP’s School Leadership Program. During the last six years, Ms. Carter helped drive student achievement at Amistad Academy Elementary in New Haven, Conn., where she was a founding teacher, grade level chair and academic dean. She earned a B.A. in history with a secondary teaching endorsement from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in elementary literacy and math from Walden University. Ms. Carter is excited to work closely with Rhode Island families and communities to help students from Providence, North Providence, Cranston and Warwick climb the mountain to college. She is also looking forward to helping students understand the unique strengths of each community as they grow to become leaders in Greater Providence and the world.
